Panasonic Lumix TZ5The Panasonic Lumix TZ5, known as the TZ15 in Asia (announced 29 January 2008)  is a 10.7 megapixel (CCD) digital camera with 10x optical zoom (28mm – 280mm) with an aperture maximum of F3.3-F4.9.

The Panasonic Lumix TZ5 has a 3.0 inch LCD with 460,000 pixel resolution and 20 megabytes of internal memory. It also features face detection, continuous auto focus, red eye correction (in camera), intelligent exposure, intelligent scene selector and intelligent ISO (lots of intelligent modes – meaning it’ll sense a lot of what’s going on in your scene and set your camera up for it automatically).

The TZ5 will last for 300 shots per charge of it’s Lithium Ion battery and is available in blue, black and silver.

The Lumax DMC-LS80 features a Lumix DC Vario branded optical zoom lens, a 2.5 inch LCD with 230,000 pixel resolution, 24 megabytes of internal memory, and will take up to 270 shots with oxyride batteries

The Panasonic DMC-L80 also includes an array of ‘intelligent’ technology features such as image stabilization, intelligent ISO, intelligent scene selection etc.

The Panasonic DMC-LS80 comes in pink, black and silver.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 (announced 18 March 2008) is a 10.1 megapixel slim and compact point and shoot digital camera with an ultra wide 5x times optical zoom lens from Leica (25mm – 125mm equivalent) and a 3.0 inch LCD with touch screen interface.

The Lumix DMC-FX500 is the first Panasonic to feature a touch screen interface which can be used using either the stylus pen that comes with the FX500 or your finger tip.  

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 also features Face Detection, Digital Red Eye Correction, plus a range of Intelligent Auto technologies such as Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent ISO which sets the ISO automatically according to the conditions and Intelligent Scene Selector.  The Lumix FX500 also includes the ability to take1280 x 720p HD video content and still photos with a 16:9 aspect ratio, perfect for viewing on an HDTV.

Canon EOS 5D and 30D firmware updates

Canon EOS LogosCanon has release firmware updates for the EOS 5D and EOS 30D models.

EOS 5D Firmware Update Version 1.1.1

This firmware update (Version 1.1.1) incorporates the following fixes and improvements:

  1. It now supports high-capacity CF cards.
  2. It allows the latest lens names to be recorded in the Exif information of images taken.
  3. It adds lenses that are compatible with the Digital Photo Professional 3.2 lens aberration correction function.

Version 1.1.1 firmware update is for use with cameras with firmware up to Version 1.1.0. If you already have Version 1.1.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Canon EOS 30D Firmware Update Ver 1.0.6

This firmware update (Version 1.0.6) incorporates the following fixes and improvements:

  1. It allows the latest lens names to be recorded in the Exif information of images taken.
  2. It adds lenses that are compatible with the Digital Photo Professional 3.2 lens aberration correction function.

Version 1.0.6 firmware update is for use with cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.5. If your camera’s firmware is already version 1.0.5, it is not necessary to perform this update.

Pentax OptioThe Pentax Optio V20 (announced 17 March, 2008) is an 8.0 megapixel ultra slim point and shoot camera with a 5x zoom lens (36mm – 180mm equivalent) and a 3.0 inch LCD monitor.

The Optio V20 has innovative features such as Face Recognition, Smile Capture – to which detected facial expressions and releases the shutter, and Blink Detection – reporting when subjects close their eyes in an image.

It also features, 52 megabytes of internal memory, auto tracking AF and Auto Macro mode and digital shake reduction.

Olympus E-3The Olympus E-3 (announced 16 October 2007) is the top of the line DLSR from Olympus.

The E-3 features a 10.1 megapixel Live MOS image sensor (with live preview), five frames per second shooting, 2.5 inch LCD (able to be tilted and swiveled) and 11 point auto focus sensor.
